Most Shopify Square apps can keep stock counts matched. Problems show up later, when Square’s short item names replace the Shopify titles you wrote for search, or when you open a second store and find your plan covers only one location.
Some entry plans sync only when you start the sync manually, so a Saturday rush at the counter still sells stock your website thinks you have. Others match products by SKU alone, and any item you rang up in Square without one never links to Shopify. You usually find these limits after you’ve installed the app and synced your catalog, when undoing the damage means fixing product pages one by one.
Below are 6 apps, with what each one syncs, what it protects, and what it costs, starting with our own DPL Shopify Square integration.
APP 01
Rating: 4.9/5
Best for: Shopify stores running Square in a physical shop that want control over what syncs, not just a stock pipe.
We built DPL Square Integration for sellers who run Square at the counter and Shopify online, and who don’t want a sync that overwrites product data they’ve already cleaned up. You decide which platform leads, which locations connect, and which product fields are allowed to change. Stock stays in sync the whole time.
Most merchants finish setup in about 10 minutes, and nothing syncs until you turn it on. Forbes Advisor recommends our app for connecting Square with Shopify, and its guide walks through setup step by step. We’re rated 4.9 on the Shopify App Store.
Here’s how the setup works.
Connect your locations and choose an inventory source
After you connect Square, you choose which Shopify and Square locations share stock and which platform holds the true count, and only the locations you connect will sync.
Choose which platform controls your product data
Set Shopify or Square as your primary source, then pick which fields to sync: title, description, price, or image. Fields you leave unchecked are never overwritten, so your Square register can show “Blue Tee M” while your Shopify page keeps the full title you wrote for search.
Import/export your catalog and review linked products
Import Square products into Shopify or export your Shopify catalog to Square, either in bulk or a few at a time. We link existing products by title or SKU, so items without a SKU still match, and you can review every link before any stock moves.
Link products that share a common SKU
Products that share a SKU, like a candle listed twice on Shopify but sold as one Square item, can draw from a single stock count. We flag shared SKUs when you connect and keep them out of sync until you’ve checked the matches and turned it on.
Sync orders, refunds, and cancellations
Manage Square orders from Shopify and send Shopify orders, refunds, and cancellations back to Square so both systems show the same status.
Keep customers and gift cards in one place
New customer records sync between Shopify and Square. Gift card balances stay correct whether a card is bought or redeemed at the counter or online.
Get alerted when a sync fails
If a product upload or an order sync fails, we notify you. Once you’ve fixed the cause, you can retry it manually. Support is available 24/7 through live chat, tickets, and Google Meet.
Pricing
Starting at $39.99/month, with enterprise plans for larger catalogs and a 7-day free trial on every plan.
APP 02
QuickSync
Rating: 4.8/5
QuickSync is a multichannel inventory tool. For $19 a month, it links two shops, such as Shopify and Square, to a single stock count, and you can connect more channels later. It syncs inventory, products, prices, and orders, matching items by SKU.
Square is one of many channels QuickSync covers, so the app isn’t designed around Square specifically. Test it on your own catalog before going live. Check how it handles Square item variations, whether each Square location syncs to the right Shopify location, and what happens to items with no SKU. Also time how long a stock count you change by hand in Square takes to reach Shopify.
Price: from $19/month for two connected shops
APP 03
SKU IQ
Rating: 4.7/5
SKU IQ, made by o2o Commerce, connects POS systems such as Square, Clover, and Lightspeed to Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce, Squarespace, BigCommerce, and TikTok Shop. You decide where stock is managed: in your POS, your online store, or SKU IQ itself.
The $19 plan syncs quantities only, with online and POS orders shown in one view. To keep product details matched and push new items automatically, you need the $49 plan. Image sync and faster syncing are on the $99 plan.
Price: $19, $49, or $99 per month, with a free trial.
APP 04
SquareFloww
Rating: 0/5
SquareFloww, from RippleStep, launched in May 2026. It syncs products, inventory, and customers in both directions, and it can import and export products in bulk.
On the $19 Starter plan, sync only runs when you click it, and you get one location pair. Automatic sync starts on the $39 Growth plan, which also raises the limits to 2,000 products and 3 location pairs. The app has no reviews yet, so you’d be one of its first users.
Price: $19, $39, or $79 per month, with a 7-day free trial.
APP 05
SkuHarmony
Rating: 4.4/5
SkuHarmony syncs inventory between Square and Shopify. A sale on one platform lowers the stock count on the other, and you can copy a product and its variations from one catalog to the other.
The listing covers syncing with one Square location, so check that it can handle a second store or a warehouse before you add one. It doesn’t mention any way to choose which product fields sync. Test whether copying or updating a product overwrites your Shopify titles, descriptions, or prices. A few reviews mention slow support replies. The app is rated 4.4 from 17 reviews.
Price: $49.99/month for automatic sync, with a 14-day free trial.
APP 06
AutoSync for Square
Rating: 1/5
AutoSync, from ShopFox, syncs inventory quantities only. It doesn’t sync product titles, descriptions, prices, or images. Once it’s running, it compares stock in Shopify and Square and corrects any difference it finds.
Setup takes some work. Before syncing starts, you have to resolve every stock mismatch by hand so the app knows the correct count. The app has two reviews, both 1-star, mentioning sync errors and slow support. Both are several years old. The free trial lasts 3 days, which is short for testing a full catalog, so so line up your stock counts in both systems before you install.
Price: $49/month, with a 3-day free trial.
Keep your counter and your website on the same count
Every oversold item costs you a refund and a customer’s trust. Set the sync up once, protect the product data you’ve already cleaned, and stop fixing stock by hand at closing time.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
01Can I accept Square payments on my Shopify website?
No. Shopify’s checkout doesn’t take Square as a payment processor. Online orders go through Shopify Payments or another supported gateway, and in-store sales stay on Square. A sync app keeps your products, stock, and orders matched between the two, but each platform handles its own payments.
02Can I switch from one Square sync app to another?
Yes. Turn off syncing in the old app before you enable the new one. If both run at once, every sale can be counted twice. With DPL, you don’t have to rebuild your catalog. We link the products you already have by title or SKU, and you can review those links before any stock moves.
03Can I use a Square integration while moving to Shopify POS?
Yes. Some merchants keep a Square integration running while they move in-store sales to Shopify POS, so stock stays correct on both systems until the switch is finished.
