How Calculated Shipping Works #
Calculated shipping generates a real-time shipping quote at checkout based on your declared package weight and dimensions. Every field must contain a valid, positive number — if any value is blank, zero, or non-numeric, Etsy cannot compute a rate and rejects the listing.
Important: Calculated shipping on Etsy is currently available only to sellers using USPS or Canada Post.
Why This Happens #
- One or more dimension fields (length, width, height) or the weight field is left blank
- A field contains zero, a negative number, or non-numeric text
- The weight or dimensions were not entered in the units the shipping profile expects (e.g., the profile expects pounds but kilograms were entered)
- The item was assigned a calculated-shipping profile but the product record has no physical size data
How to Fix It #
- Open the product in the Etsy Integration – DPL app and locate the shipping/dimensions fields.
- Enter a valid, positive value for:
- Weight (must be greater than zero)
- Length, Width, and Height (all three are required)
- Confirm the units match what the shipping profile expects (inches/pounds or centimetres/kilograms depending on your region).
- Use the item size when packed — item plus packing materials, but not the outer shipping box.
- Retry the upload.
Tip: If you do not know exact dimensions, measure the item wrapped in its typical packing material (bubble wrap, tissue paper) before placing it in the box.
