This error appears when every offering (or variation) in a product has a quantity of zero, leaving nothing available to sell on Etsy.
Error Key: QuantityIsZero
Etsy’s Quantity Requirements #
Etsy does not allow publishing a listing where all offerings have zero stock. At least one offering must have a quantity of 1 or more for the listing to be active. The maximum quantity per offering is 999.
How Etsy handles zero stock depends on whether the listing has variations:
- No variations: If the single quantity reaches zero, the listing cannot be published or reactivated until the quantity is updated.
- With variations: A listing can remain active as long as at least one variation still has stock greater than zero. Individual variations can be zero (shown as out of stock) without causing this error, as long as one other variant is in stock.
Why This Happens #
- Inventory synced from Shopify as 0 (e.g., the Shopify product is out of stock)
- All variations in the product are simultaneously out of stock
- The product’s quantity was not set before the upload was attempted
- An inventory adjustment reduced all quantities to zero before the sync ran
How to Fix It #
- Open the affected product in the Etsy Integration – DPL app or in Shopify.
- Update the quantity to at least 1 on at least one offering or variation.
- If the item is genuinely out of stock and you do not want to sell it, consider deactivating the listing in the app rather than uploading it with zero stock.
- Retry the upload.
Note: If you sell made-to-order items with no physical inventory, set the quantity to a number that reflects how many orders you can feasibly fulfil during your stated processing time. Etsy does not charge extra for unused quantity.
