This error appears when a physical-item listing has no return policy attached to it. Etsy requires every physical listing to declare a return policy before it can be published — even if that policy is “no returns accepted.”
Error Key: ReturnPolicyNoneFound
Why Etsy Requires a Return Policy #
Etsy mandates a return policy on every physical item listing to give buyers clear expectations before purchasing. Not having a policy set will prevent the listing from being uploaded, and may also reduce your listing’s visibility in Etsy search results. Digital item listings are exempt from this requirement.
You can set a single return policy for all physical listings, or set a different policy per listing depending on the item.
Why This Happens #
- No return policy has been created in your Etsy shop yet
- A return policy exists in Etsy but has not been fetched into the app and assigned to this product
- The policy was deleted from Etsy after it was linked in the app
How to Fix It #
- Create a return policy in Etsy if you don’t have one:
- Go to Etsy Shop Manager → Settings → Policy Settings
- Create at least one return policy (even “No returns or exchanges” is valid)
- Important: This must be done on Etsy’s desktop website or mobile web browser — the Etsy Seller mobile app does not support creating return policies
- In the Etsy Integration – DPL app, fetch your policies so the new policy appears in the app’s list.
- Open the affected product and assign the return policy to it.
- Retry the upload.
Note for EU sellers: Consumer protection laws in the EU require sellers to offer a minimum 14-day right of withdrawal on orders shipped to EU countries. Your return policy must reflect this requirement if you ship to the EU, regardless of your general policy.
