This error appears when the shop section assigned to a product no longer exists on Etsy. The app cannot upload the product because the section ID it is sending does not match any active section in your shop.

What Are Shop Sections? #
Shop sections are custom categories that let buyers browse your products by type, material, occasion, or any grouping you choose. You can have up to 20 custom sections per shop, each with a name up to 24 characters. When a section is deleted on Etsy, any listings in it are moved back to “All Items” — but the section ID the app is holding becomes invalid.
Why This Happens #
This error occurs when:
- A shop section was deleted or renamed on Etsy after it was linked to a product in the app
- The section ID stored in the app no longer resolves to any section in your current Etsy shop
- The app is trying to upload to a section that was reorganised or replaced
How to Fix It #
- In the Etsy Integration – DPL app, re-fetch your shop sections. This refreshes the app’s list with your current Etsy sections.
- Open the affected product in the app.
- Do one of the following:
- Reassign the product to an existing, valid section from the refreshed list
- Remove the section assignment entirely — Etsy will display the listing under “All Items,” which is perfectly valid
- Retry the upload.
Note: Each Etsy listing can only belong to one section. Sections with no active listings do not appear on your public shop page.
