Selling on both Shopify and Etsy should feel seamless, especially when you’re managing inventory across warehouses, retail stores, or fulfillment centers. But, as your business grows, keeping stock in sync across platforms can become a real headache. Overselling, stockouts, and endless manual updates are all too common. Shopify makes it easy to manage inventory across multiple locations, whereas Etsy doesn’t offer the same level of flexibility and that has been a pain point for many merchants.
That’s why we’re excited to share a major update to the Etsy Integration – DPL App: Multi-Location Inventory Sync. With this new feature, you’ll have complete control over which Shopify locations sync to your Etsy listings. Whether your products are stored in a single warehouse or distributed across multiple locations, the app will automatically update the correct stock levels and maintain accuracy in real-time. No more guessing, no more overselling.
What’s New with Multi-Location Inventory Sync?
With Multi-location Inventory Sync, merchants will be able to:
- Select all or specific Shopify locations to sync with their Etsy listings
- Aggregate inventory from multiple Shopify locations and sync accurate stock levels on Etsy
- Automatically update Etsy listings as soon as stock changes from a synced location
How it Works
Shopify Location | Inventory Count | Selected for Etsy Sync | Aggregated for Etsy |
New York | 20 | ✅ Yes | ✅ Yes |
Los Angeles | 15 | ✅ Yes | ✅ Yes |
Toronto | 30 | ❌ No | ❌ No |
Total Synced Inventory | 35 units (NY + LA) |
You choose to sync New York and Los Angeles with Etsy, but not Toronto.
That means your Etsy listing will show a total of 35 units available, combining the 20 from New York and the 15 from LA.
The 30 units in Toronto are excluded from the Etsy equation.
Why This Matters
If you’re running a growing Shopify store, chances are you’re fulfilling orders from more than one place. That might include your own warehouses, local retail shops, or third-party fulfillment services. Shopify handles this really well with multi-location inventory. Etsy, on the other hand, only lets you list one stock number per product. That’s been a challenge.
This new feature solves that. It provides you with more flexibility and control over how your Etsy listings accurately reflect your actual inventory. You’ll avoid overselling, reduce manual work, and sell more confidently knowing your stock is always accurate.
